Seventeen municipalities in Charente-Maritime were recognized on October 5, 2026, for the second edition of the "My Commune, My Landscape" award, organized by the Department to celebrate local initiatives integrating trees and vegetation into development projects.

The Department of Charente-Maritime celebrated the winners of the 2nd edition of the « My Commune, My Landscape » competition on October 5, 2026. This initiative aims to highlight municipalities actively committed to creating more attractive, sustainable, and plant-friendly landscapes.
From 29 submissions this year, a jury of experts selected 17 municipalities. Among them, two received a Special Prize for the exemplary quality of their landscape approach.
Organized as part of the Tree and Landscape Plan, this competition rewards municipal actions aimed at integrating vegetation into public spaces, preserving existing trees, and improving residents' quality of life. The goal is also to share concrete and inspiring achievements to encourage other local authorities to undertake similar projects.
For the Landscape Approach Prize, which recognizes continuous and shared action (landscape integration in planning tools, management plans, greening permits, communal biodiversity atlases, resident involvement), the winners are: Taugon, Saint-Palais-sur-Mer, Marennes-Hiers-Brouage, and Royan.
The Landscape Realization Prize, honoring an integrated and sustainable project (public space redevelopment, garden creation, de-sealing and greening of parking lots or schoolyards, hedge planting, rural landscape restoration), awarded: Breuil-la-Réorte, Landrais, Saint-Denis-d'Oléron, Saint-Nazaire-sur-Charente, Saint-Rogatien, Saint-Vivien, Rivedoux-Plage, Saint-Jean-de-Liversay, La Jarrie, Échillais, and Saint-Pierre-d'Oléron.
