The municipality of Garat held its municipal council meeting on Wednesday, September 23, 2026. In compliance with legislation, the list of adopted deliberations was published within a week of the session. These decisions, now accessible to residents, address various aspects of communal management.
Among the points discussed, the council approved by majority the gratuitous transfer of a plot of land rue du Cabarot, in the area known as « les Groies », to SDEG 16 for the installation of a transformer station. Another land regularization was approved following a fence encroachment onto municipal private property.
The proliferation of cats was also addressed with the adoption of a sterilization campaign. Associations authorized to use communal premises had their permits renewed, with the addition of the association Mavka.
The council appointed the municipality's representatives to the Local Commission for the Evaluation of Transferred Charges (CLECT): Mayor M. Laurent Dugué, and First Deputy Mayor M. Thierry Rougier. Furthermore, Ms. Isabelle RIVET was named the titular climate risk referent, with Mr. Joel CASTEX as her alternate.
Decisions concerning finances and taxation were made, including the approval of the SPL GAMA's 2025 annual report and a request for additional funding for the school group's energy renovation works. The council also voted to institute the Tax on Vacant Residential Properties (TVLH) and create four non-permanent positions.
Other deliberations included the acquisition of a plot of land rue de Ladoux, the termination of the school transport agreement, and the municipality's financial contribution to transport and swimming pool costs for the 2026-2027 school year.
