From tableware to contemporary sculptures, ceramics will be in the spotlight this Sunday, October 4th at the Labenche Museum. Ten artisans will be present all day, from 10 AM to 12:30 PM and 1:30 PM to 6 PM, to unveil their creations, offer them for sale, and engage with the public.
This inaugural event echoes the exhibition 'À Table. Passé, présent' (On the Table. Past, Present), currently on display at the museum. The event highlights the local roots of the 'arts of fire,' with many invited ceramists from the region. Brive-based restaurateurs, who already serve dishes in pieces crafted by ceramists, will also be in attendance.
A bowl competition is organized, where each ceramist will present their unique interpretation of the traditional object. Around 5 PM, a jury will award a prize of 300 euros. Visitors, including children, can vote throughout the day for the public's choice award, valued at 150 euros.
The day will also provide an opportunity to interact with the artisans. A small guide with sample questions will be given to visitors to break the ice and facilitate discussions about techniques, glazes, and color creation.
Visitors can leave with a unique piece, a decorative object for the home, or even an early Christmas gift.
Admission is free. The Labenche Museum is located at 26 bis boulevard Jules-Ferry.
