On Wednesday, September 14th, a joint operation by Haute‑Corrèze Communauté and the municipality of Ussel successfully removed nearly two tons of waste from the Sarsonne river.

Thanks to the lowered water levels observed this summer, elected officials and services from both authorities were able to intervene to clean the river. This collective mobilization resulted in the removal of numerous waste items, including some particularly polluting ones, from the Sarsonne.
In total, 1.9 tons of waste were collected: 1.1 tons of tires, 0.7 tons of scrap metal, and 0.1 tons of other waste such as rubble, glass, agricultural tarpaulins, and asbestos. All collected waste was sorted and directed to appropriate treatment and recycling channels.
This operation highlights a strong collective effort. It is reminded that illegal dumping of waste is prohibited, and bulky items should be taken to recycling centers.
