The wooden footbridge, installed in 2009 and heavily used by residents and visitors to connect the right-bank districts with the center of Aubusson, is currently undergoing refurbishment. This operation is being carried out directly by the town's technical services.
The old robinia wood structure is gradually being replaced by Douglas fir, supplied locally by the Labourier sawmill in Blessac. Municipal agents are performing all the installation steps themselves, measuring and cutting each plank on-site to precisely fit the structure's dimensions.
This renovation aims to improve pedestrian comfort and safety, particularly during winter when ice can make the bridge slippery. This project highlights the commitment of the municipal technical services and their preference for local solutions whenever possible.
It is a local project, using wood from a nearby sawmill and the expertise of municipal agents, serving an essential facility for Aubusson's residents and visitors.
