Due to summer weather conditions and minimal September rainfall, soil moisture levels in Dordogne are significantly below average.

In light of the summer drought and the near absence of rainfall throughout September, soil moisture levels in the department of Dordogne are considerably lower than usual for this period. Consequently, Madame la Préfète de la Dordogne issued a decree on October 15, 2026.
This decree specifies that for parcels located in vulnerable zones, the requirement to maintain a sown plant cover, as well as the quality and quantity of regrowth serving as cover, are not enforced.
