The teams from the French Blood Establishment (EFS) set up at the Espace Aliénor this Friday morning, transforming several meeting rooms into dedicated donation spaces. Medical equipment, staff in white coats, and volunteers in red vests marked the day.
For the first time, Grand Périgueux is organizing a blood drive for all agents and employees of the Aliénor district, near the Multimodal Exchange Hub (PEM) of Périgueux station.
As blood donation involves several stages, multiple areas have been set up: one room for donors to fill out questionnaires and have their medical interview, another for the blood draw, and a space for post-donation refreshments.
According to the EFS doctor, organizing drives within companies or administrations allows them to "attract new donors" and raise awareness among those who might not come naturally, offering a more convenient option close to their workplace.
This is the case for Manon, in her thirties, who is donating for the first time. "Clearly, the fact that it was organized at Espace Aliénor made me want to go for it," she says, highlighting the simplicity of the process and the kindness of the teams. She is ready to repeat the experience.
Hélène, a nursery director and regular donor, also appreciates this initiative, finding it "very encouraging" and a way to discuss blood donation among colleagues. Séverine, Karine, and Stéphanie, employees of the MSA, share this view, emphasizing the proximity and lack of excuses for not donating.
