The commune of Avensan has launched 3 new collection points for food waste, bringing the total to 7 across the area.

Good news for the environment in Avensan! The commune has introduced 3 new collective drop-off points for food waste. These additions bring the total number of dedicated collection points to 7 within the municipality.
The new collection points are located at:
- Chemin de la Gare (next to the glass recycling bin)
- Plaine des Sports (next to the glass recycling bin)
- Route de Margaux - PELIN (next to the glass recycling bin)
Once deposited, this food waste is transported to Eysines, then Saint-Laurent-Médoc. There, it is processed to produce biogas, which powers the local network, and agricultural fertilizers to enrich the soil.
This initiative is part of the AGEC law (anti-waste law for a circular economy), which promotes source separation and the valorization of bio-waste.
To easily store and transport food waste to the collection points, residents can obtain a bio-bin at the waste disposal center (déchèterie) or from the Communauté de Communes (Intercommunal Council).

The commune encourages citizens to adopt good daily practices to reduce waste and preserve the local environment.
