Nouvelle-Aquitaine celebrates the 27th edition of Le Mois du doc, from November 1st to 30th, 2026, under the theme "Contre-courant", offering over 300 events in nearly 110 venues.

The national event Le Mois du doc, coordinated by Images en bibliothèques, takes place from November 1st to 30th, 2026. This year's theme is "Contre-courant" (Against the Current), inviting audiences to discover strong, engaged films directly reflecting our contemporary world.
In Nouvelle-Aquitaine, nearly 110 venues, including libraries, cinemas, and cultural centers, are participating with over 300 screenings. Among these, 26 films supported by the Région Nouvelle-Aquitaine and ALCA will be shown in 92 communes. Twelve of these films will have 126 sessions accompanied by a guest speaker for audience discussion.
The film selection resonates with the "Contre-courant" theme through various lenses: current events and territory (Planter à tout prix), artistic creation (Malandain quand l’amour prend corps, Le Silence du musicien), regional know-how (Chères faiseuses, Tokyo Aubusson, le voyage en tapisserie de Hayao Miyasaki), featured locations (Jardins intérieurs, La Détention), nature and rurality (Le jeu de la ferme, Levures indigènes), societal issues (Zone Grise), history (Haute solitude Jean zay, prisionnier politique, Les enfants de Madame Massu), and combined subjects (A vol d’oiseau).
A closing event is scheduled for Sunday, November 29th, at the cinema Le Rex in Tonneins, featuring the preview screening of the film La Détention with its director, Guillaume Massard. This documentary, produced by Triptyque Films and TS Production, explores the training of prison guards at the École Nationale d’Administration Pénitentiaire (ENAP) in Agen.
The evening will begin at 5 PM with the screening of La Détention, followed by a discussion with the director and regional protagonists, moderated by Philippe Quaillet. A closing cocktail reception will be held at 8 PM.
Le Mois du film documentaire in Nouvelle-Aquitaine is coordinated by ALCA Nouvelle-Aquitaine, CINA, and Les Yeux Verts. These organizations provide resources, professional development, and a selection of regional documentaries to participating venues like cinemas and libraries.
