Director Janloup Bernard, from Nouvelle-Aquitaine, has been selected as a recipient of the 2026 Author Support Grant, an initiative by the Nouvelle-Aquitaine Region and ALCA.

As part of its policy to structure professional careers in cinema and audiovisual, the Nouvelle-Aquitaine Region and ALCA have established a dedicated grant called "Aide au parcours" (Support for the Creative Journey). Aimed at experienced authors and author-directors from Nouvelle-Aquitaine, it will support Janloup Bernard and four other laureates from October 2026 to October 2028.
After a master's degree in social anthropology at the University of Lyon 2, Janloup Bernard attended La Fémis film school, specializing in directing. He has directed several short films presented at festivals. In 2022, he co-directed Fief, followed by Savoir vivre, based on a work by David Lopez. In 2024, he co-founded the company 3B. He is currently working on his first feature film and a documentary about the muralist artist Xabier Tapia.
His current projects include 100 jours (working title), a documentary following Xabi Tapia, known as Xabxab, a Basque muralist artist, in his ambitious project to paint 100 murals in 100 days across the Basque Country. The film focuses less on the creation of the artwork and more on portraying a man reclaiming his heritage. Another project is Narah, Negua, Nina, the story of a young woman from Bayonne who joins the Basque independence movement.
His selective filmography includes J'avais un camarade (2022), Loin du Sud (2019), La Vie active (2018), and Dernier été (2018).
