The prefecture of Gironde announced the move to yellow vigilance for 'Forest Fires' starting September 28, 2026, a measure that will remain in effect until further notice. This decision particularly affects the municipality of Martillac, whose territory is largely forested.
Several restrictions are being implemented to mitigate risks. Access to forest areas will be prohibited between 2 PM and 10 PM, except for specific derogations provided by current regulations. Similarly, sports and cultural events will be forbidden in areas exposed to forest dominance, although they remain authorized in sports facilities located outside these zones.
The use of engines and any ignition sources will also be prohibited, except in cases provided for by the prefectural decree. It is strictly forbidden to burn green waste, use flying lanterns, or set off fireworks. Furthermore, making fires, smoking, or discarding incandescent objects in or within 200 meters of woods and forests is prohibited.
