The town of Villenave-d'Ornon has inaugurated a new photovoltaic canopy in the parking lot of the Cube hall. Covering an area of 1,720 m², this installation has a power capacity of approximately 400 kWp.
It will produce nearly 480,000 kWh of electricity per year, equivalent to the annual consumption of about fifty households. The generated electricity will be used for self-consumption to power municipal buildings and equipment, thus covering nearly 10% of the town's built heritage electricity needs.
Beyond renewable energy production, the canopy also offers protection to parked vehicles. By creating shaded areas, it helps limit the heating of asphalt surfaces and the urban heat island effect, especially during periods of high temperatures.
Inaugurated on Monday, September 28th, in the presence of the Mayor and elected officials, this new facility will host participants and visitors of the La Transhumance event on October 4th.
