“"Through these three phases, we wanted to pursue a coherent project, combining the quality of public spaces, the enhancement of biodiversity, the valorization of local identity, and the development of conviviality. The commune's ambition is for everyone to embrace these places: to walk there, to meet there, to shop there, or simply to enjoy the living environment of our commune."

The municipality of Le Vigen is inaugurating this Friday, October 30, 2026, the final phase of its town center redevelopment project, aimed at revitalizing the heart of the village.
Le Vigen is taking a major step in modernizing its living environment. This Friday, October 30, Jean-Luc Bonnet, Mayor of Le Vigen, surrounded by members of the municipal council, will officially inaugurate the final phase of the town center redevelopment works. The event will be attended by Mr. Maurice BARATE, Prefect of Haute-Vienne, Mr. Jean-Claude LEBLOIS, President of the Departmental Council of Haute-Vienne, and Mr. Guillaume GUÉRIN, Mayor of Limoges and President of Limoges Métropole.
This ambitious project, initiated in February 2026, has rethought Place de la Briance, Place Henri Michel, and the valley sector. The objective is to restore vitality to the heart of the village by creating a functional, accessible, and convivial space for residents, shopkeepers, associations, and visitors.
The valley area and wetland have been developed to protect local ecological richness, following an assessment by the National Conservatory. An accessible path for all includes children's games and a footbridge over the Briance connecting the town center to the valley. A boardwalk path in the wetland allows for a walk through the natural environment. Vines have been reintroduced along the Chemin de la Vigne, reconnecting with the historical heritage, and a parking area has also been developed there.
The new Market Hall, designed to host regular markets and municipal events, enhances the town's attractiveness. Accessible pathways for people with reduced mobility and a staircase now harmoniously connect the different areas of the renovated center.
The entire operation represents a total investment of €962,500 excluding tax. This project has benefited from strong public support, co-financed at 57% by the State (via DETR), the Departmental Council of Haute-Vienne, and Limoges Métropole. The municipality of Le Vigen covered the remaining 43% through self-financing.
The event will take place on Friday, October 30, 2026, at 11:00 AM. Meet at Place Henri Michel, 87110 Le Vigen.
