After several months of work, the Saint-Pierre church in Parentis-en-Born has regained its splendor thanks to a meticulous restoration of its most fragile elements, a project costing €530,000.

The restoration of the Saint-Pierre church, with a total cost of €530,000, has concluded after several months of specialized interventions. The work focused on preserving the most fragile architectural elements of the building, from the roofing to the interior fittings.
The south entrance porch and the west facade wooden door have been completely redone. The interior walls of the porch had degraded parts removed, plaster coatings repaired, and new paint applied. The wooden door was restored with damaged sections replaced and molded elements reproduced.
The stained-glass windows, restored by NOGARO, are now protected by new copper grilles made by TMH. The molded stone elements of the rose window and the cross have also been restored, with damaged parts re-carved and the rose window's joints and washes redone.
The wooden floors and steps underwent targeted restoration, including the replacement of the most degraded pieces and an insecticide treatment to enhance their durability.
A significant part of the project concerned the roofs. The slate bell tower was dismantled to straighten and consolidate its frame before the slates were re-laid. The tiled roofs were also revised, with damaged elements replaced and supports consolidated. On the bell tower, the slate roofing was repaired, with fixing hooks replaced and zinc elements redone, while four large dormer windows were newly fabricated.
The wooden campanile benefited from a restoration of its frame and decorative elements, with restored zinc flashing and repainted woodwork. The metal frame elements were brushed and treated for conservation.
In parallel, a fundraising campaign with the Fondation du patrimoine is nearing its goal. Thanks to the generosity of 117 donors, €28,150 has been raised out of the targeted €30,000. There are 78 days left to reach this target, which would unlock an additional €15,000 in matching funds from the Fondation du patrimoine.
Donations are tax-deductible for individuals (66%), real estate wealth tax (75%), and corporate tax (60%). Donation details are available on the Fondation du patrimoine website.
