As part of the program En immersion, broadcast on the LCP channel, journalists Marion Becker and Marion Devauchelle spent several days at the Lucienne Pontot-Monsolle EHPAD. The aim of this report was to present an example of a public and associative EHPAD, accessible to all, amidst a shortage of places and difficulties faced by private EHPADs.
The Tarnos facility was chosen to illustrate a model of an open and virtuous establishment, where attention to the elderly is paramount and life is celebrated. The quality of care and the meaning given to services are highlighted.
The EHPAD claims sound management of public funds, supported by the Municipality, the Department of Landes (through apprenticeship aid and exceptional funding) and a grant from the ARS. The establishment also promotes quality of working life and the prevention of occupational hazards.
“"We wanted to do a report on public and associative EHPADs eligible for social assistance (accessible to all), at a time when private EHPADs are in turmoil and there is a severe lack of places for our elders."
During the report, several personalities testified to their attachment to the Tarnos EHPAD: Paul Carrere, Vice-President of the Department of Landes responsible for autonomy; Marc Mabillet, Mayor of Tarnos and President of the CCAS; and Isabelle Dufau, Deputy Mayor for Social Action, Solidarity, and Health, and Vice-President of the CCAS.
The report, titled EN IMMERSION: EHPAD, the challenge of old age, was broadcast on Friday, November 13th at 9 PM on LCP INÉDIT, with several reruns scheduled and available on replay on LCP.fr and the YouTube channel.
