The event highlighted the famous Basque cake through several key moments. The amateur best cake competition saw 35 participants compete, while 13 young professionals vied for honors in their respective categories. The 16th chapter of the Brotherhood of Basque Cake also marked these days, with the induction of several personalities and brotherhood members, including Peio Etxelegu, Rafa Gorrochategi, Sylvain Rouyer, Marie-Claire Aizpuru, Nicole Bergara, and Jocelyne Faurieux.
In the amateur competition category, the Trophée Euzkia d’Or was awarded to Magali Lapegue. The Trophée de la Ville de Cambo-les-Bains honored Marie-Thérèse Sallagoity. Finally, the Trophée de l’Office de Tourisme de Cambo-les-Bains went to Jean-Paul and Sylvie Lastra.
Among the young professionals under 20, the Prix de la Chambre des Métiers et de l’Artisanat des Pyrénées-Atlantiques was won by Maïlis Mourraux from Pâtisserie Cuyala in Soumoulou. The Prix de la Confrérie du Gâteau Basque was presented to Anne Elise Bayala, from Okindegia in Biarritz.
Throughout the weekend, visitors enjoyed tastings and sales of Basque cake offered by the EGUZKIA association. A regional products market, an arts and crafts village, a Basque traditions show, a concert by the Cambo harmony band, and a Basque singing concert by the ADIXKIDEAK choir completed the festive offerings.
