Following the drought that occurred this summer, the municipality of Hasparren has submitted a request for recognition as a natural disaster area. This initiative addresses issues related to clay shrinkage and swelling affecting homes.
Residents who observe cracks in their homes are urged to report them. This declaration must be accompanied by a letter and photographs, and submitted to both the town hall and their insurance company under their home insurance policy.
The processing of this request by state services is a lengthy procedure, expected to take several months. The municipality anticipates a response no earlier than 2027 and will keep residents informed of the outcome.
