From October 2026 to February 2027, the town of Mourenx invites artist Yann Chatelin, known for his monumental murals, to share his art through workshops open to all.

The town of Mourenx will resonate with the art of monumental murals from October 2026 to February 2027, welcoming artist Yann Chatelin. Specializing in large-scale frescoes, the artist explores calligraphy and handwriting, which he considers an essential art form in the face of digital standardization.
Yann Chatelin draws inspiration from real and imaginary alphabets from around the world to create works that reflect the identity and expressions of the territories where they come to life. His creations have taken him from Casablanca to Kathmandu, as well as various regions across France.
“

"In our society, handwriting is disappearing, facing the digital keyboard which standardizes, accelerates exchanges and dehumanizes texts. Yet, writing by hand remains essential for structuring one's thoughts or exercising one's memory. It is also an imprint, a mirror of each personality."

For 8 weeks, Yann Chatelin will be present in the area to share his experience in street art, his creative process, and to lead artistic workshops. These sessions will allow participants, from 8 years old, to collectively imagine the future mural for Mourenx. The project is open to residents of Mourenx and the municipalities of the CC Lacq-Orthez.
The workshops, each lasting 2 hours and free of charge, will be held in cycles of three. They will primarily take place at the Mi[X] cultural center. Registrations are available through the online ticketing system and are important for ensuring comfortable and engaging workshops.
