The city of Saint-Jean-de-Luz is launching a public consultation for the future development of Lafitenia beach, which faces coastal risks.

Continuing the development work carried out in Erromardie and Senix to adapt to coastal erosion, the city of Saint-Jean-de-Luz is pursuing its "beach plan" initiative and launching a reflection on the Lafitenia site.
"We are continuing our sustainable development approach for the northern beaches and deploying our 'beach plan' because our responsibility is to anticipate coastal changes rather than be subjected to them," states Jérôme Roteta, municipal councilor in charge of urban planning, development, and housing.
To launch this third phase concerning Lafitenia beach, the municipality wishes to listen to those who live and frequent the site. The goal is to create a development that meets their needs and respects this exceptional heritage.
The public is invited to express their views during a voluntary public consultation, held prior to the project, on Saturday, October 24th, in the afternoon, from 1 PM to 4 PM.
A consultation workshop will be held in the public space, directly near the circular parking area of Lafitenia. Residents of Saint-Jean-de-Luz, local inhabitants, or simple visitors/walkers are invited to freely exchange with the project team at their convenience between 1 PM and 4 PM, and to share their vision for the territory and discuss needs identified through their experience of the site, in favor of a sustainable redevelopment of this area facing coastal risk.
