To preserve the Charente river and adapt to the challenges of climate change, the Department of Charente-Maritime has invested in two new intervention tools: the crane boat named "Le Courant des Marais" and a forestry tractor equipped with a crane.
These new resources will enable the teams of the Fluvial Agency to intervene more effectively. Their tasks will include removing blockages, maintaining riverbanks, managing weakened trees, and ensuring good navigation conditions on the river.
The crane boat, in particular, will facilitate operations in areas difficult to access from land, while the forestry tractor will be used for the removal and handling of wood along the banks.
With these investments, the Department strengthens its action capacity over more than 300 kilometers of riverbanks. This initiative also aims to improve the safety of its agents and increase responsiveness after storms or exceptional climate events.
This acquisition is part of a broader strategy for preserving the river heritage, protecting natural environments, and adapting to the effects of climate change.
