President Sylvie Marcilly outlined the main points of the Department's future 2027 budget, highlighting an "extremely constrained and unstable context." The proposed strategy revolves around several axes: a refocus on fundamentals to address €13.6 million in additional expenses in 2027, including €12 million for solidarity policies. Intensified actions for youth and colleges, as well as a response to the climate emergency through the continuation of the departmental water policy, are also planned. A mobilization of €150 million is announced to support departmental investment.
Sound and prudent financial management remains a priority, with a debt repayment ratio of 6.2 years and outstanding debt below the symbolic threshold of €400 million. The 2027 budget, which will be examined at the December Session, will be built upon this ambitious strategy.
Other reports were voted on during this session. A modification decision n°2 includes an exceptional subsidy of €350,000 for SDIS 17, an adjustment of €3.3 million for the Marans bypass, and an increase of €1.2 million for family assistants. The creation of a Departmental Autonomy House is planned for January 1, 2027, offering a one-stop shop for the elderly, disabled individuals, and their caregivers.
Finally, support for farmers affected by the summer drought was approved, with an increase of €250,000 in agricultural crisis response funds, bringing the total amount to €340,000.
