The « Pacte territorial » initiative, covering the 109 municipalities of Vals de Saintonge, offers support to owner-occupiers and landlords for various projects. These works can include insulation, heating, ventilation, and joinery to enhance comfort and save energy. Housing adaptation, such as bathroom renovations, installation of stairlifts or access ramps, aims to promote aging in place. The program also helps improve housing habitability, safety, and compliance with standards.
In the town center of Saint-Jean d’Angély, the Opération Programmée d’Amélioration de l’Habitat – Renouvellement Urbain (OPAH-RU), jointly funded by Vals de Saintonge Communauté and the City of Saint-Jean d’Angély, provides specific assistance. It focuses on rehabilitating degraded housing, creating independent access, and increasing the supply of private rental properties with controlled rents. This initiative follows previous OPAH programs that supported energy renovation and the creation of subsidized housing.
To streamline procedures, a unified public service, Rénov’ Info Service, is managed by Vals de Saintonge Communauté in partnership with the inter-municipalities of Aunis Atlantique and Aunis Sud. This service acts as a single point of contact for technical advice, information on available aid, and guidance on suitable schemes. The support is free and personalized for owner-occupiers and landlords.
Several events are planned to inform residents. The Rénov’ Tour will stop in Saint-Jean d’Angély on October 16 and 17, at Place François Mitterrand, next to the Town Hall. Additional information meetings are scheduled: one for landlords on October 1st at 6 PM in Saint-Savinien (Mairie) and another on October 15th at 6:30 PM in Saint-Jean d’Angély (Mairie).
