The "Esprit d'initiative" (Spirit of Initiative) section of the La Rochelle Agglomeration highlights local actors demonstrating creativity, innovation, and boldness. These initiatives, whether from individuals, companies, or associations, are selected for their ability to move from idea to action.
Among the featured projects, the Fabricothèque celebrates its tenth anniversary in October 2026, having hosted and guided hundreds of project leaders. The Défi des chefs (Chefs' Challenge), focused on promoting legumes in school catering, saw the Montroy school win the prize.
Biodiversity is also in the spotlight with the publication of the new book « À l’ombre des pontons 2 » (In the Shadow of the Pontoons 2), revealing the richness of marine life around the La Rochelle marina, accompanied by educational exhibitions. A discovery booklet on local fauna has also been published in partnership with several organizations.
Energy and environmental education are addressed through the « Eolika » workshop, designed by engineering students to explain energy to schoolchildren. The association Do l’enfant Dom offers an in-home childcare service to help parents in difficulty return to work.
Youth entrepreneurship is encouraged with Coop’Inspire, the first school cooperative, and initiatives like the public speaking competition « De la Charente-Maritime aux Grandes Écoles » (From Charente-Maritime to the Grandes Écoles). Awareness of life-saving gestures and the promotion of energy-efficient home renovation are also highlighted actions.
The section also features inspiring journeys like that of Lucie Boudesseul, a professional motorcycle racer, and citizen initiatives such as the « Nos Cabanes » (Our Cabins) project, fostering social connection through participatory creation.
Other projects emphasize commitment to local, quality food with the Collectif fermes urbaines (Urban Farms Collective), reuse with the La Belle Affaire recycling center, and the ecological transition through initiatives like « Les Lucioles » for renewable energy production.
The Agglomeration also supports innovative projects in the blue economy, pediatric research with LILOK, and social and economic integration with structures like Remise à flot.
