During the 2026-2027 school year, the health prevention bus will once again travel through the Vals de Saintonge. This initiative goes out to meet young people, stopping for one to two half-days per month at identified locations, including near colleges and youth hangouts. These encounters facilitate open discussions with professionals about local support services.
The bus addresses crucial topics for 12-25 year olds: sexual health, mental health, addictions, lifestyle habits, domestic violence, and sport-health. Conducted in partnership with local stakeholders, these interventions aim to guide young people to existing structures and services when additional support is needed. In the 2025-2026 school year, 721 young people were informed, reinforcing the value of this mobile approach.
Two new features mark this new year. On Wednesday, October 14, 2026, a youth and health information rally will be held from 1:30 PM to 5:00 PM, with stops at various local partners (Mission Locale, addiction service, Info Jeunes...). The day will conclude with a friendly snack at the water's edge. An escape game focused on mental health, designed with Les Cerveaux associés, will also be offered to address the topic in a fun, collective format.
This initiative is part of the youth policy development in the Vals de Saintonge, in conjunction with the Global Territorial Convention (CTG) and the Local Health Contract (CLS). It is implemented with numerous local actors, including Infos Jeunes Vals de Saintonge, the Saintes / Saint-Jean d’Angély Hospital Group, the Department of Charente-Maritime, Tremplin 17, À chacun son toit, the Mission Locale, PS Nomade, the Beaufief leisure center, FDFR17, educational institutions, and municipalities.
