The Babysitting scheme, implemented by Vals de Saintonge Communauté, has a dual objective: to provide young people in the area with their first professional experience and to meet families' real need for occasional childcare. It relies on a list of babysitters trained in the care and safety of children over 3 years old.
For families struggling to find a trustworthy and available person nearby, Vals de Saintonge Communauté compiles and updates a list of volunteer babysitters, aged 16 and over, residing in the area. This service facilitates the search for occasional needs, whether for an evening, an appointment, or an activity.
Before joining this list, young participants attend a half-day information session focused on four themes: the framework of the activity (contract, CESU, insurance, professional posture), daily care (meals, changing, child's needs), child development and emotional security, and age-appropriate games and activities. These workshops aim to enhance their understanding of their role and families' expectations. A PSC (Citizen First Aid) training is also offered.
Young people wishing to register on the babysitter list after this awareness session provide their availability and mobility conditions. Families can obtain this list by contacting the Info Jeunes service. Access to contact details is managed to ensure the confidentiality of personal data. Vals de Saintonge Communauté solely facilitates the connection, not intervening in the employment relationship.
To access the service, families can send their requests to infojeunes@valsdesaintonge.fr or contact partner structures. Young people over 16 interested can reach Info Jeunes via SMS or WhatsApp at 06 09 77 13 60.
