Led by Linkcity for the Association Laïque du Prado and the Communauté de communes de l’île d’Oléron, the project involves the construction of 77 temporary housing units on the former gendarmerie site. This initiative responds to an identified local need for accessible accommodation solutions for individuals coming to work on the island or requiring suitable housing for a specific period.
Seasonal workers, mobile employees, apprentices, interns, and individuals facing housing access difficulties will be able to find suitable options for short or medium-term stays. This is a particularly concrete response in an area where tourism and real estate pressure make housing access more challenging for a portion of the workforce.
The Communauté de communes de l’île d’Oléron identified a lack of accessible housing for seasonal and temporary workers. Since 2022, Linkcity has been collaborating with the Association Laïque du Prado and the community of communes to find a solution. After studying several sites, the former gendarmerie location in Saint-Pierre-d’Oléron, on rue Duboisd’Aubry, was chosen. This already occupied site is located just 700 meters from the town center, facilitating access to shops and services.
The future residence, built over three levels (R+2), will feature 77 units, primarily T1 and T1 bis (studio and one-bedroom apartments), along with units adapted for people with reduced mobility. The program also includes common areas on the ground floor and 43 parking spaces. The contemporary architecture will blend with the urban fabric of Saint-Pierre-d’Oléron.
The residence is scheduled for delivery in April 2027. Clément De Lageneste, regional director for Nouvelle-Aquitaine and Occitanie at Linkcity, highlighted the shared commitment to address a local need and build a lasting solution for the territory, aligning with Linkcity's approach of developing real estate projects linked to local realities.
Social hotel residences (RHVS) offer flexible accommodation solutions for life transitions and professional mobility, providing a secure, comfortable, and accessible living environment. State-approved, they cater to various groups, thereby facilitating employment access and enhancing territorial economic attractiveness.
