For several years, residents in the northwest of Montardon, especially in the Auga, Birarens, and plain areas, have been experiencing very limited mobile reception. This situation is expected to be resolved soon.
As part of the national program to eliminate 'white zones,' the Fibre 64 syndicate has been leading a project for over a year to improve mobile coverage in this part of the municipality. The long-awaited antenna has now been installed at the site of the former pony club, on the Saint-Castin road, near the dam.
Standing 36 meters high, this new infrastructure is not yet fully operational. Power supply is underway, and the relays for the four main operators – Orange, SFR, Bouygues Telecom, and Free – are expected to be functional by the end of the year.
The operator Free was designated to carry out and finance the installation work in Montardon. The installation has also been designed to minimize visual pollution and blend discreetly into the landscape.
The operation incurred no cost for the municipality, which simply provided land for the antenna's installation. This new infrastructure is expected to significantly improve mobile network quality for many households and users in the area.
