The Espace Mendès France and La Rochelle Université are collaborating for the second edition of the Night of Research in Nouvelle-Aquitaine. This event aims to bring researchers and engineers closer to the public through encounters in five towns and three high schools in the region.
The program, designed for all audiences, including schoolchildren and the general public, promises exciting discoveries. In Bourcefranc-Le-Chapus, on September 24 at the Lycée de la mer et du littoral, an afternoon session (4 PM-6 PM) will focus on women in maritime professions, followed by a round table open to the public at 7:30 PM.
On September 25, several events will take place. In Surgères, at the Lycée polyvalent du Pays d’Aunis (2 PM-4 PM), doctoral students and research engineers from LIENSs will present their work on tracing pollutants in marine species. In Rochefort, at the Corderie Royale at 6:30 PM, historian Laurent Vidal will give a lecture on music in Atlantic ports during the Industrial Revolution.
The day continues in Saint-Jean-d’Angély, at the Micro-folie. In the afternoon (2 PM-4 PM), high school students will meet archaeologists from LIENSs and a photographer. From 6 PM, an opening reception will feature the presentation of an art-science project on an excavation site in Tunisia.
In La Rochelle, on September 25 at the Muséum d’Histoire Naturelle (5:30 PM-7 PM), encounters will be held with thirteen female researchers from six different laboratories at La Rochelle Université. A performance lecture on sensitive knowledge is scheduled for 8 PM.
Finally, on September 26 at 11 AM at the Musée maritime, an anthropologist and a photographer will present a research-creation project on the Coubre lighthouse.
