As part of the Science Festival, themed "Learned Flavors" this year, the Pelagis Observatory is organizing two free events in La Rochelle, focusing on marine mammals along our coasts. These events aim to educate the public about the diet of seals and the causes of dolphin mortality.
The first activity, titled "Seals at the Table! A Drawn Investigation into Their Favorite Flavors," will take place from 2:15 PM to 3:15 PM at the aquarium. In partnership with Aronnax Sciences, this drawn conference will use live illustrations to explain the lifestyle, habitats, and favorite prey of grey seals and harbor seals, such as sardines and sandeels.
The afternoon will be dedicated to "Operation Dolphin: The Investigation is Open!," a board game and online investigation offered at the Comm’On Lab’. In collaboration with the IAE/La Rochelle Université, this activity will allow participants to explore the marine world, cetacean diets, and debate the causes of their mortality as well as the protection measures in place.
