A study day titled “The Teaching of Animation in France: Contexts, Challenges, Methods” will be held in June 2027. Organized as part of the scientific committee of NEF Animation, it is supported by the AIAC and ESTCA laboratories of the Université Paris 8 Vincennes – Saint-Denis.
Since the creation of Gobelins in 1974, France has developed a network of internationally recognized animation schools. This study day will focus on the training experience of students in animation cinema, building on research into art pedagogy. The call for contributions aims to examine the institutional, creative, technical, and pedagogical challenges of transmitting animation cinema practices within French public higher education, including art schools, universities, and consular schools.
Proposals should address institutional, creative, technical, and pedagogical issues, considering financial and professional constraints, as well as contemporary technical and ecological evolutions. Abstracts, approximately 200-300 words, accompanied by a brief biography, must be submitted by October 31, 2026.
