Starting from the 2026 school year, the municipality of Gond-Pontouvre will provide free snacks to children attending after-school care and the CLAS (Local School Support Contract).

The municipality of Gond-Pontouvre has announced a new initiative aimed at improving the well-being of children in its after-school facilities. From the 2026 school year onwards, a free snack will be offered to all children enrolled in after-school care and the CLAS.
This initiative aims to promote healthy and balanced eating, ensure equal conditions for enjoying this break and social time for all children, and simplify daily life for parents. The action is part of a move towards more equitable public services, guaranteeing a quality snack regardless of family circumstances.
Snacks will be prepared on-site, adhering to hygiene standards for collective catering. The municipality prioritizes organic and local products, such as fruits, dairy, and cereal products.
This new service, partly funded by the European program 'Milk and Fruits at School,' will not result in any increase in childcare fees. It represents concrete support for the 130 children involved.
Specific organizational measures are being implemented, including registration for evening care to adjust quantities prepared and minimize food waste. The snack time, lasting 30 minutes, will be supervised by additional staff, including an ATSEM (early childhood assistant) for the youngest children.
Through this measure, Gond-Pontouvre reaffirms its commitment to children's well-being and equality, while easing the daily lives of families.
