The town of Gond-Pontouvre is actively involved in cancer prevention and fight, a commitment supported by the "Ma Ville se Ligue" label and two ribbons awarded by the League Against Cancer. The municipality is developing an action plan to introduce new public health initiatives.
October Rose marks a key moment in this mobilization. Beyond raising awareness about breast cancer, the actions aim to emphasize the importance of prevention and screening for residents.
On Sunday, October 4th, a 6.9 km solidarity walk is organized in partnership with the "Passerelles" hiking section. Open to all, this friendly activity encourages participants to wear a touch of pink to symbolize their support and spark conversations on the topic. A donation box will be available for contributions to the League Against Cancer.
On October 31st, a "Gym Tonic" session in the colors of October Rose will highlight the importance of physical activity in cancer prevention.
The exhibition "Les Kraneuses qui tétonnent," presented by the Jeune & Rose association, will also be featured at these events. It showcases artistic portraits of young women affected by breast cancer, offering a unique perspective on the illness and body image.
To increase the visibility of this mobilization, the facade of the town hall and the Pyramide roundabout will be illuminated in pink throughout October. The town's logo will also adopt this color on social media to spread the message of prevention and screening.
