Although not directly within its purview, the City of Brive maintains an active policy to attract healthcare professionals to its territory. During the municipal council meeting on Wednesday, September 23rd, two new scholarships, each worth 1,000 euros per month, were approved. These scholarships are granted in exchange for a commitment to practice medicine in Brive for at least 6 years.
The recipients of these new grants are Anthony Michaud and Aurélien Wang, both 5th-year students at the Faculty of Medicine and Pharmacy in Limoges. They have expressed their desire to establish themselves as general practitioners in the city.
Franck Peyret, municipal councilor responsible for medical attractiveness, described this initiative as a successful program. He highlighted the city's significant efforts in this area, noting that since 2022, 23 scholarships have been awarded (20 for medical students, 3 for dental students), along with 8 installation aids for teleconsultation terminals and three support programs for Advanced Practice Nurses (IPA).
Mayor Frédéric Soulier added that this commitment represents an investment of 2,360,747 euros.
