The press conference for the 44th Brive Book Fair was held this Wednesday, September 30th, at the Labenche museum. The Mayor of Brive, Frédéric Soulier, and commissioner François David welcomed Dominique Bona, president of this edition, which will take place from November 6 to 8, 2026.
The event will feature over 500 authors in general literature, youth literature, and comics, along with book signings, literary encounters, activities, workshops, exhibitions, and shows. The Book Fair is also partnering with RTL for relocated broadcasts and a school writing competition.
This edition will see a 1000m² expansion of the main site, improving circulation and rest areas, and adding a space for changing and breastfeeding. Five stands will also be relocated.
Three guests of honor will be present: Béatrice Bonhomme for poetry, Joann Sfar for comics, and Marie-Aude Murail for youth literature.
A series of conferences, in partnership with Le 1 Hebdo, will celebrate the 50th anniversary of the disappearance of André Malraux. Personalities such as Alain Malraux, Céline Malraux, Hervé Gaymard, Antoine Compagnon, and Éric Fottorino will participate. Dominique Bona will discuss 'The Women in His Life,' related to her biography of Clara Malraux. A dictation titled 'Malraux and Corrèze' is also scheduled for Sunday, November 8th, at the Labenche museum.
The initiative 'Reading to Heal' becomes an annual event. Professional meetings will include a round table on the theme 'Desire to Read – Desire for Books.' Poetry will be highlighted with Béatrice Bonhomme and the presence of Cédric Villani. Audiobooks and five sign language interpreted encounters will also be offered.
Dominique Bona, a novelist, biographer, and member of the Académie française since 2013, succeeds Philippe Claudel. Mayor Frédéric Soulier expressed his confidence in her ability to lead debates and promote books and the French language.
She has invited Jean-Christophe Buisson, Noëlle Châtelet, Sonia Devillers, Jean-Paul Enthoven, Jean-Noël Liaut, Gilles Martin-Chauffier, Louis Michaud, Christophe Ono-dit-Biot, Marie Petitcuénot, and Olivier Rolin. On Friday, November 6th, at 6 PM, she will engage in dialogue with these guests at the Forum Gazeau, Halle Brassens.
