The Brive media library is hosting a retrospective of the Book Fair, displaying its iconic posters and honoring its former presidents, offering a journey into the past of this unmissable literary event.

Visitors to the Brive media library are invited on a journey through time with the exhibition "The Brive Book Fair Through Its Presidents and Posters." This retrospective highlights the history of this major literary event, from its beginnings to the present day.
The poster for the 33rd edition has particularly caught visitors' attention, notably for its graphic and satirical tone. Attendees have recognized caricatures of renowned cartoonists such as Wolinski, Cabu, and Tignous, recalling their connections to the city of Brive, where they had their regular haunts and left their mark.
The exhibition also features a copy of the municipal newspaper from November 1982, the ancestor of Brive Mag, which already headlined the Book Fair, underscoring the event's early success. Over 7,000 books were sold at the time, placing the Fair just behind the Paris Book Fair.
The walls of the media library are also adorned with various posters that narrate the event's evolution over the decades. Originally created for the Fair's 40th anniversary, some have been preserved and restored, offering a glimpse into the artistic styles and tastes of each era.
The faces of writers and personalities who have presided over the Fair, such as Jean Teulé, Bernard Pivot, and Jean d’Ormesson (who presided in 1987 and 2006), are also highlighted, testifying to the event's prestige.
This retrospective emphasizes the charm of the Brive Book Fair, which extends beyond books to encompass encounters, memories, and the city's deep connection to this event. The next edition, under the presidency of Dominique Bona, will take place on November 6.
The exhibition "The Brive Book Fair Through Its Presidents and Posters" is freely accessible at the downtown media library, place Charles de Gaulle, until tomorrow, during opening hours.
