The 2026 edition of the national « Commune à découvrir » (Town to Discover) label was unveiled in September, with 26 towns from the Creuse Sud Ouest Intercommunal Community receiving this tourist and heritage distinction. This award highlights the territory's richness, its historical and architectural heritage, its landscapes, natural spaces, as well as its local culture and identity.
The distinguished towns include: Ahun, Banize, Bourganeuf, Chavanat, Le Monteil-au-Vicomte, Lépinas, Maisonnisses, Mansat-la-Courrière, Montboucher, Moutier-d’Ahun, Pontarion, Royère-de-Vassivière, Saint-Amand-Jartoudeix, Saint-Dizier-Masbaraud, Saint-Georges-la-Pouge, Saint-Hilaire-le-Château, Saint-Martin-Château, Saint-Martin-Sainte-Catherine, Saint-Michel-de-Veisse, Saint-Pardoux-Morterolles, Saint-Pierre-Bellevue, Saint-Pierre-Chérignat, Sardent, Soubrebost, Thauron, and Vidaillat.
