Starting October 1, 2026, the Bergerac hospital center offers mammography consultations, both for screening and other purposes, with new modern equipment, improving accessibility for women in the region.

From October 1, 2026, the Centre Hospitalier de Bergerac will offer consultations for mammography examinations, both for screening and outside of screening programs. This initiative coincides with the national breast cancer screening campaign.
The arrival of this new, modern, and accessible mammograph aims to meet a high local demand, often faced with limited capacity for care. Women in Bergerac and surrounding areas will thus be able to access this examination more easily and quickly.
To enhance the patient experience, the examination room has been designed to create a relaxing atmosphere, featuring LED lighting with colors selectable by the patient. The mammograph itself is a modern device, adapted to all body types, with rounded edges and a non-cold plate to minimize pain and discomfort.
A dedicated ultrasound machine has also been acquired to complement the mammography examination if necessary. Early detection through mammography is crucial for the effective treatment of breast cancer, which affects over 60,000 women annually and is the most common female cancer.
Screening mammography is recommended every two years for women between 50 and 75 years old without specific risk factors.
