Facing the challenges of climate change, schoolyards, often largely mineralized, struggle to provide an adequate environment. They exacerbate heatwaves, poorly manage rainwater, and offer limited uses, leading to occupation inequalities. With projected temperature increases, it is crucial to redesign these spaces for the well-being of users and biodiversity, involving children as primary users.
Therefore, the Périgord-Limousin Regional Natural Park, the Departmental Technical Agencies of Dordogne (ATD 24) and Haute-Vienne (ATEC 87), and the Council of Architecture, Urbanism and Environment of Haute-Vienne (CAUE 87) are launching this call for interest. The aim is to assist three municipalities within the Park in developing schoolyards that are more resilient and adapted to tomorrow's climate, in consultation with students.
Eligible beneficiaries are municipalities within the Périgord-Limousin Regional Natural Park that own an elementary and/or kindergarten school. The concerned establishments must be located in a commune affiliated with the Park. Schools in gateway towns (Aixe-sur-Vienne, Brantôme-en-Périgord, Nexon, Thiviers, Saint Junien, Saint-Yrieix-la-Perche) are not eligible.
This call for interest does not provide direct funding for works but offers engineering support to achieve a well-considered, high-quality project adapted to future climates for the comfort of users and biodiversity.
