Mathieu Vevaud, factory director of Fargeot & Cie, is leading the transformation of the charentaise and slipper manufacturing company in Nantheuil. His goal is to ensure the long-term viability and growth of the business, while promoting artisanal know-how.

Having settled in the Dordogne region twenty years ago, Mathieu Vevaud, 43, brings his industrial expertise to Fargeot & Cie, a historic manufacturer of slippers and charentaises. Since joining in early 2026, his mission is to structure the organization, improve efficiency, and build a sustainable economic model.
Working closely with his associate and CEO, Antoine Garnaud, Vevaud shares a common vision to give new momentum to this SME. The restructuring has led to the creation of two independent companies: Podowell in Saint-André-de-Cubzac and Fargeot & Cie in Thiviers.
Fargeot, founded in 1930, champions traditional French craftsmanship. The company produces two flagship products: the Chausse Mouton charentaise, which benefits from the Geographical Indication (IG), and the Fargeot slipper with an injected sole. These products are made by a team of 37 employees.
With a current production of approximately 200,000 pairs per year, the ambition is to expand the manufacturing and marketing of both brands, championing Made in France. The priority is to enhance brand awareness and showcase the company's expertise.
In line with this strategy, a 50 m² factory outlet store has opened in Nantheuil. This space, open to the workshop allowing visitors to observe the manufacturing process, offers both brands, including past collections and second-choice products at advantageous prices, serving as a true showcase for the company's know-how.
