Municipal and metropolitan agents intervened immediately after the violence on Saturday, October 17th, 2026, in Bordeaux. Their actions aimed to protect the city center, clean the streets, and secure vandalized businesses to ensure the quickest possible return to normal.
From Saturday afternoon throughout the weekend, teams worked on cleaning roadways and sidewalks, removing debris, and repairing public spaces. Over forty shop windows of affected businesses were secured by Bordeaux Métropole agents, with the goal of enabling their swift reopening.
“"From Saturday evening, through the night and all day Sunday, our agents were on the ground working to secure our businesses and clean our streets. I want to thank them once again."
This rapid mobilization notably allowed the 22nd edition of the Challenge du Ruban Rose race to proceed on Sunday under good conditions, while municipal and metropolitan agents continued their work.
Cleaning operations are continuing this week, including the removal of numerous graffiti, securing and repairing street furniture, and restoring paving. Damage assessment is ongoing, and specific support measures are being implemented for businesses.
