Autumn is the ideal season to prepare your garden. Instead of discarding your branches and green waste, the Médullienne Community of Communes invites you to reuse them. Free events are being held to chip your branches, collect the resulting wood chips, and learn best practices for composting and garden care.
During these events, participants can have their branches, up to 13 cm in diameter, chipped for free. They can also take home wood chips for their gardens, receive a composter if their household doesn't already have one, and attend practical workshops on composting and using wood chips. Wood chips are particularly useful as mulch to protect soil, reduce water evaporation, and lower watering needs.
The events will take place in Castelnau-de-Médoc, in front of the waste disposal center (Lieu-dit Mont d'or), on Wednesday, October 21, 2026, from 9 am to 12 pm and 2 pm to 6 pm, and on Saturday, November 7, 2026, from 2 pm to 5:30 pm. In Le Porge, opposite the waste disposal center on the temporary traveler's site, the dates are Wednesday, October 28, 2026, from 8:30 am to 12 pm, and Saturday, November 7, 2026, from 9 am to 12 pm. Only branches less than 13 cm in diameter are eligible.
These simple actions help reduce waste while naturally improving your garden. The free mobile application 'Infos Tri Déchets Médullienne', available on Google Play and the App Store, also provides information on waste disposal centers, collection services, communal drop-off points, and waste-related services.
