Elected officials, professionals, and residents gathered on October 13th to review the progress of the rehabilitation project for the Château Raba residence in Talence, set to begin in January 2027.

The Château Raba residence, comprising 406 housing units, is preparing for a significant transformation. The project, named "Repenser et Améliorer pour Bâtir l’Avenir" (RABA - Rethink and Improve to Build the Future), was presented to the companies tasked with the upcoming works. This participatory approach involves the teams from aquitanis, the project management, and the tenants.
The primary goal of this rehabilitation is to enhance the thermal comfort of the homes and substantially reduce energy consumption and tenant charges. The towers will transition from an energy label D to A, and the linear buildings from D to A or B, through the replacement of insulation, windows, controlled mechanical ventilation, and connection to the urban heating network.
Beyond the buildings, the project includes improving the usability of common areas and implementing new waste management strategies. The lobbies of the four towers will be reconfigured to open onto François Rabelais street, creating clearer and more secure access. New spaces for professional or associative activities will replace former areas.
The exterior spaces will also be redeveloped, aiming to "des-impermeabilize" 3,290 m², renew plant heritage, improve lighting, and adapt pathways for people with reduced mobility, thereby increasing the neighborhood's comfort and safety.
This meeting is part of the ongoing participatory process initiated at the project's outset. A dedicated contact within the GTM Bâtiment Aquitaine team will facilitate communication between tenants and companies throughout the works, which will be carried out with residents in place.
Construction is scheduled to commence in January 2027 and will span 36 months. The total project cost amounts to 28 million euros including tax, with funding shared by aquitanis, Bordeaux Métropole, the European Union (FEDER), and the State.
