The Nodris departmental estate, established in Vertheuil in the heart of Médoc, is a mixed project developed by the Gironde department. Spanning 43 hectares, it features an agricultural component focused on organic production (market gardening, goat farming, and cheese making), complemented by a departmental apiary. Concurrently, a cultural component aims to structure and unite the territory, offering workspaces, meetings, workshops, and residencies for artists and associations. It also provides the Iddac's equipment pool for cultural professionals and serves as a hub for Biblio.Gironde for Médoc libraries, while hosting events for all audiences.
The ambition of this project, with development starting in 2020, relies on the coexistence of these two main activities: agriculture and culture. The estate is committed to giving a solidary dimension to its offerings by integrating all audiences supported by social sector partners. Cultural and solidarity-focused events are offered throughout the year.
Since the summer of 2021, two young farmers, selected through a call for applications, have been operating the estate. Fanny Ledauphin, a former teacher, raises 30 goats and produces cheeses since April 2022. Florian Serreuille, who transitioned from cooking to market gardening, cultivates 3.8 hectares of vegetables since spring 2022. Frédéric Pelcener, beekeeper and estate manager, oversees a 30-hive apiary and organizes free visits from June to August.
To promote these productions, a weekly sales point is open at the Nodris estate every Wednesday from 4:30 PM to 6 PM and Saturdays from 10:30 AM to 12 PM, offering vegetables, cheeses, and other dairy products.
Iddac opened a cultural equipment relay point in Nodris's longère in March 2022, providing resources for Médoc professionals. Biblio.Gironde has also established a hub for its network libraries, offering collections and training. The teams from SunSka Festival and Soulbeats Music occupy the Nodris house to develop their activities. The estate also hosts creation residencies, seminars, training, and recurring events such as 'Les Jeudis de Nodris' and a festival in July.
Ultimately, Nodris aims to become a structuring hub for Médoc and Gironde, offering shared workspaces, artist residency studios, and hosting major events, all on a solidary foundation open to all audiences.
