The project 'La Jalle de Tiquetorte: restoring the natural functioning of a river and its marsh' has won the 2026 National Grand Prize for Ecological Engineering. This award recognizes the efforts in restoring aquatic environments and preserving local biodiversity, led by the SMBVJCC (Syndicat Mixte du Bassin Versant des Jalles de Cartillon et de Castelnau).
This collective success, in which residents also participate, was partly financed by the GEMAPI tax. This contribution illustrates the tax's usefulness for the territory's environmental preservation.
Awarded by A-IGÉco and the French Office for Biodiversity (OFB), in partnership with the Ministry of Ecological Transition, this Grand Prize recognizes the quality of the project, the commitment of stakeholders, and the work accomplished on the ground.
The official award ceremony will take place on November 24 and 25, in Paris, during the Biodiversity and Ecological Engineering Fair, organized as part of the Mayors' Fair.
