The Vienne Briance hall in Condat-sur-Vienne hosted a special evening on Friday, September 25th, marking the tenth anniversary of the Condat-sur-Vienne Youth Space (EJC). From 7:30 PM to midnight, nearly 60 to 70 people, spanning all generations, gathered to celebrate this structure that, for a decade, has supported the commune's youth and served as a true place for life, encounters, and sharing.
This anniversary event brought together those who have contributed to the Youth Space's vitality over the years, as well as several generations of adolescents who grew up there. Among the guests were the creators of the EJC, established in 2016 under Mayor Genest: Ms. Lydie Delaunay, then municipal councilor in charge of the project, and Mr. Laurent Moreau, who was the head of the Youth Space at the time.
In the presence of the Mayor and several elected officials, the evening provided an opportunity to reflect on the EJC's origins, its evolution, and the many memories associated with it. Beyond numbers and years, it was primarily human stories that were celebrated, with exchanges and reunions bringing forth anecdotes about outings, activities, and projects, testifying to the place the Youth Space holds in the journey of many Condat residents.
The municipality wishes to extend its sincere thanks to all the youth workers who, for the past ten years, have dedicated themselves to the young people, contributing daily to making the EJC a welcoming, dynamic, and unifying place. The staff of the school restaurant were also thanked for providing refreshments for the anniversary evening.
Bruno Genest, mayor of Condat-sur-Vienne, emphasized the crucial role of the Youth Space in the commune's life and in supporting new generations, noting that today's adolescents are the citizens who will build tomorrow's community. He highlighted the importance of offering young people spaces to meet, exchange, develop projects, and thrive in a suitable and supportive environment, a role the Youth Space has fully fulfilled for a decade.
