The "Mois sans tabac" (Month without tobacco), a national campaign led by Santé publique France, the Ministry of Health, and the Assurance Maladie (Health Insurance), encourages smokers to take on the challenge of going 30 days without smoking. This period is significant because beyond 30 days, withdrawal symptoms decrease significantly, and the chances of permanent cessation are multiplied by five.
At the Centre Hospitalier Dax-Côte d'Argent, a specialized multidisciplinary team offers personalized support. Composed of doctors, nurses, psychologists, a specialized midwife, a dietitian, a social worker, and a medical secretary, they provide free consultations by appointment, from Monday to Friday, 9 am to 4:30 pm, at 05 58 91 39 24.
This year, the campaign highlights the status of "ex-smoker" with wordplay that values this status, emphasizing that becoming an "ex" is an exemplary and extraordinary journey, despite difficult moments. Participating in "Mois sans tabac" increases the chances of becoming an ex-smoker.
Free tools are available to support participants, including a comprehensive support kit with a preparation program, a motivation calendar, and practical advice. The free Tabac Info Service app, the telephone line 39 89, and regional Facebook groups also offer continuous support.
Registrations are open on the website mois-sans-tabac.tabac-info-service.fr. Participants will receive their kit to prepare for the collective challenge.
