The Communauté de Communes des Grands Lacs, in partnership with Atmo Nouvelle-Aquitaine, has released the findings of an air quality study in Parentis-en-Born, conducted as part of its Territorial Climate Air Energy Plan (PCAET). A public meeting is scheduled for Monday, November 30, 2026.

Two measurement campaigns were carried out in 2025 at five sites in Parentis-en-Born and Sanguinet. These allowed for the study of several pollutants and an in-depth analysis of the initial 2019 diagnosis.
The results indicate that the air quality in the municipality is generally comparable to that of reference regional stations and the Sanguinet monitoring site. During the winter campaign, fine particles PM2.5 and PM10 occasionally exceeded the recommendations of the World Health Organization (WHO), potentially linked to desert dust, wood heating, and industrial emissions. However, regulatory thresholds were respected.
Measured concentrations of odorous compounds are low and comply with existing reference thresholds. Nevertheless, the study does not characterize occasional odor episodes that may cause nuisance to residents.
