In response to the drought affecting aquatic environments and soils, the prefecture of Sanguinet has extended water usage restriction measures. These measures apply to individuals, as well as businesses, local authorities, and agricultural operators.
For individuals, several uses are now regulated. Watering of lawns, flowerbeds, green spaces, and golf courses is prohibited from 8 AM to 8 PM. Watering of vegetable gardens, sports fields, and equestrian centers is prohibited from 1 PM to 8 PM, remaining authorized from 8 PM to 1 PM the following day. Washing of vehicles and nautical equipment by individuals is prohibited, as is the use of beach showers and similar devices, and the draining of swimming pools and ponds. Cleaning of facades, roofs, and sidewalks is also prohibited, unless for sanitary or safety reasons. Other specific restrictions may apply depending on the uses and user categories.
These restrictions aim to limit water withdrawals to preserve the priority functions of water resources, such as health, civil security, drinking water supply, and the preservation of aquatic ecosystems. The municipality reminds that "every gesture counts to preserve our water resource."
To know the details of the affected uses and applicable restrictions at the alert level, it is advisable to consult prefectural order no. 2026-1366 and its annexes.
