The weekend of September 25th and 26th marks the launch of the cultural season in Hendaye. Various city locations, including the media library, the Mendi Zolan Cultural Space, the Halles de Gaztelu, the Place de la République, and the Les Variétés cinema, will open their doors to present the program that will animate the city until next summer. Theatre, dance, music, circus, exhibitions, and literary encounters are on the agenda.
Friday, September 25th, will begin at 6 PM with the inauguration of the Marie-Hélène Errecart room at the media library, honoring the former deputy mayor for culture. The evening continues at the Halles de Gaztelu at 6:30 PM with the season's presentation, followed at 8 PM by a concert by Jurgi Ekiza presenting his new album « Argitzala ». At 9:30 PM, the circus performance « Insula » by Alexandre Duran Davis will be staged on the forecourt, as part of the European project EKO – Pyrénées de Cirque.
On Saturday, September 26th, the media library will host a storytelling performance by Nathalie de Ma Fabrique de Mots at 11 AM. In the afternoon, the Place de la République will come alive from 2 PM with open-air painters, followed by animated readings « Te voilà petit cœur ! » for children at 2:30 PM. At 5 PM, the Dantza Hirian festival will present the shows « Nondik » and « Sangre y klorofila ». The day concludes at the Les Variétés cinema at 7 PM with a pintxo-pote, followed at 7:30 PM by the sound creation « Pour le chant », an image-less documentary about the migration of grey cranes.
Two photographic exhibitions will accompany the cultural season. « Regards croisés #2 » by the collective Argia will be on display at the Espace culturel Mendi Zolan until October 10th. « Oroitzapenak », presented by the Dantza Hirian festival, can be discovered at the media library until October 8th.
The subscription campaign for the cultural season is also launched, offering reduced rates on shows and concerts throughout the year.
