Launched in 2019 by the Ministries of Sports and Health, the Sport-Health Houses (MSS) program brings together health and sports professionals. Their goal is to manage and support individuals towards lasting physical activity through tailored sport-health programs.
The main missions of this new structure include informing users about the benefits of physical activity, welcoming individuals wishing to engage in physical activity, conducting fitness assessments, proposing personalized sport-health programs linked to the PEPS pathway (bridging workshops), directing users to nearby partner adapted physical activity (APA) providers, and supporting patients in their rehabilitation journey through Adapted Physical Activity.
This service is for individuals with chronic diseases and/or long-term illnesses (ALD), those with risk factors such as sedentary lifestyle, smoking, unbalanced diet, or chronic stress, and people experiencing loss of autonomy due to age and/or disability.
The team at the Pau Hospital Center comprises doctors, a registered nurse (IDE), a teacher in adapted practice, dietitians, and a secretary.
The care process begins with a consultation with a Sport-Health House doctor, who will assess the patient and, if necessary, refer them to a Day Hospital, group APA workshops, nutrition consultations with a dietitian, or workshops with the IDE to better manage daily life with a chronic condition. Patients can be referred by their general practitioner or make an appointment directly. Partner structures may also guide users.
